Can I Import My TXF File Of Trades ?
You can import standard TXF files of trade data directly into TurboTax.
The desktop platform is needed to import TXF files. All desktop editions include
the capability for TXF import.
Some brokers may let you download your matched trades directly into TXF format.
On the other hand, if you've got an Excel or CSV file of trades, convert it to TXF,
using software like
Schedule D Tax Tool.
When you're ready to import your TXF file, follow these steps:
- make sure your TXF file uses the .txf extension
- select File | Import | From Accounting Software
- follow the directions from the import wizard
If you make a mistake and want to remove imported data, follow these steps:
- select File | Remove Imported Data
- follow the directions from the import removal wizard
After any import or removal, it is strongly recommended to switch to forms view and spot check
Schedule D and Form 8949 for accuracy.
